Storage Appliance

A type of computing device that provides or manages data for other computing devices connected to the network. Unlike server devices, storage devices represent or manage data without any application context. This category of computing equipment includes Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Network (SAN) devices. See Compute Device, Server Device, NAS, and SAN.
