Smart Antenna
Also known as adaptive antennas, they use a set of antennas combined with intelligent signal processing algorithms that track the location of a mobile client device using methods such as signal direction. The location or angular direction is then used to calculate beamforming vectors to further focus the antenna's beam power on a moving target. Smart antennas are used in cellular mobile communications systems and in wireless broadband technology, such as 802.16e2005 (WiMAX) and 802.11n (MIMO). See also SDMA.
