Retina Display
Retina Display is a tagline used by Apple to describe the high-resolution screens that come with the iPhone and iPad. Before the iPhone 3, Apple's screen size was 320 x 480 pixels. Being quite small, it produced blurry text on handheld devices, especially at small font sizes. With the iPhone 4, Apple doubled the pixel size to 640 by 960 pixels, but kept the physical screen size the same. This made it possible to use twice the number of pixels per inch of the physical screen. This makes for very sharp edges with a small font size that is much easier to read. Almost all iOS and Android devices now have screens with ppi (pixels per inch) specs that are comparable or better than the iPhone 4.
