Rel="sponsored
The rel=sponsored attribute is used to identify sponsored, affiliate, or other types of links associated with an ad.
Previously, Google required all paid or sponsored links to have the nofollow attribute. On September 10, 2019, Google decided to improve nofollow links. We now have two additional link attributes to better understand the source of the content and allow Google to collect more accurate data. These attributes are rel=sponsored and rel=ugc.
Should this attribute be used for sponsored links?
Google says the past use of the nofollow attribute for paid links is still acceptable. The rel=sponsored attribute is recommended, but not required.
