I am writing a physics article in which I am trying to figure out how to put proportional symbols into equations.
From the Insert menu, click Symbol and then the Symbol tab.
In the Font box, click on the Unicode font, such as Ariel Unicode MS.
In the From box, click Unicode.
In the subset area, click Math Operators.
Find the mark (third line, third from right) and double click in the character code box or type 221D.
Click Close.
