Of2 Molecular Geometry
Have you determined the electronic geometry, molecular geometry and maximum bond angle for each of the following molecules? 3
1 Determine the electronic geometry of each molecule.
2 Determine the molecular geometry of each molecule.
3 Find the ideal bond angle for each molecule.
4 When do you expect deviations from the ideal ■■■■■ angle?
a) CF4.
(b) NF3.
(c) OF2
(D) H2S
1. They are all tetrahedrals.
2. a is a tetrahedral, b is a triangular pyramid, c and d is a curve.
3. All 109.5 degrees
4. All compounds except CF4 because it has no isolated pair.

The bond angle in question 3 is 103 degrees (less than 109.5 degrees, as opposed to the general trend of tetrahedral shapes) because the molecule has 2 solitary pairs and solitary pairs change angles.
I wanted to ask the same question this morning.
