Molecular Transistors
The term "molecular transistors" refers to circuits that consist of a single molecule. Modern semiconductor devices use massive top-down technologies, including lithography, but it is possible to grow individual devices bottom-up using chemical processes. This allows the creation of much smaller structures than is possible with current lithographic techniques. The presence or absence of a single electron can indicate the on or off state of these small devices.
