Does Cinnamon Expire
When does powdered cinnamon run out? ۔
I work at Starbus and my manager cleans the back room for the Christmas party and we don't know when the powdered cinnamon bottle runs out. So he wanted to throw it away, so I decided to take it and when it expired. He said he was promoted on May 9 this year.
Thank you very much!
updateEven with nutmeg?
Soil stored in a dry, cool and dark place can be stored for up to three years. They are not as bad as other foods.
Personally, due to the loss of energy and the complexity of the flavors, I would never use dry pre-ground more than six months old, but being a chef is enough for you.
The thing is, they don't end there! They just lost their appetite.
You can expect seeds like cinnamon powder to last 2-3 years if stored properly in a tightly closed container, which should be cool and dry.
Then shake the bottle and let it harden. Smell it, and if you can still smell it, it's still great! Probably not as strong as before.
Groundwater lasts for 4 years and retains a strong and pure aroma / flavor. The stars buy cinnamon and crush it every day! : D.
As others have said, it doesn't really work, it just loses performance. We moved the cinnamon in our cupboards after the powder (or even earlier) in 1995. It was always good, I had to use a little more than usual.
Edit: The same goes for nutmeg, as far as I know it's the same for everyone.
Although it is old, if it tastes good, it can still be used. The problem with the old is that the taste decreases over time, but it is still safe to use. Nutmeg lasts longer if it tastes and smells good.
Most people say get rid of it after 6 months to a year. If you use it in the next few months, it will probably get better.
Cinnamon can be stored in your closet for years without taste.
It usually lasts for more than a year or two. Make sure the cover is securely attached. And it's always close.

As others have said, it doesn't really end, it just loses its effectiveness. We've had cinnamon powder in our closets since we moved in 1995 (or even earlier). It was always nice, I needed to use a little more than usual.

Even though it is old, if it tastes good, it can still be used. The problem with the former is the taste that fades over time but is still safe to use. Nutmeg lasts a long time, if it tastes good and smells good then it is fine.

Most last more than a year or two. Check that the lid is securely closed. And isw always stick around.
I think for most of them it's 1 year.

If it is a few years old and it smells and tastes great, is it of any nutritional value?
I have a 1975 bottle!
