It depends on what you call cold. What I'm wearing will probably make Alaska laugh. But I use a polypropylene base coat or some other type of thermal. I have insulated the snow pants. Because I wear 1 or 2 layers of wool or jacket under the jacket, then my jacket. I don't like layers and I do a lot. I had to calm down after entering the shelter. I don't like to turn things on and off when I can help, so I opted for a zipped jacket and pants that I could open anywhere. They don't help much if it doesn't happen, but they usually help. Wearing and taking off a hat doesn't require a lot of exercise, but it's great. I can usually walk in the middle and let off steam, but I didn't feel a slight cold for a few hours. I like things under the armor, but not in the cold.
