Definition of Desertification:
The process by which fertile land becomes desert, typically as a result of drought, deforestation, or inappropriate agriculture.
Conversion of a grassland or an already arid land into a desert through indiscriminate human actions magnified by droughts. Such actions include overgrazing, repeated burning, intensive farming, and stripping of vegetation for firewood. See also deforestation.
