There are actually 2 isomers: methaxyl cation and hydroxyl cation. The latter is also known as protonated formaldehyde.

The cation of methamphetamine is CH3O (+) which contains only 6 electrons in oxygen. It will be a strong Lewis acid (I'm not sure it's really E) and it tends to rearrange itself by converting hydrogen into another isomer, hydroxyl cation.

The hydroxylation is CH2 (+) OH CH2 = OH (+). The first resonance structure has only 6 electrons on the carbon, which makes it a luteic acid that can react with nucleophiles. The second resonance structure adheres to the byte principle, but oxygen (a highly electric atom) has a regular positive charge. It behaves like a bronchial acid, which can be deprotonated from the base. Note that both resonant structures represent the same ion, so depending on the situation, the original ion may behave like luteinic acid or bronchial acid.
