Banner Exchange
Definition
A network in which participating sites show advertisements in exchange for credits that are converted (at a predetermined exchange rate) into advertisements that are shown on other sites.
Information
The simplified concept of banner exchange is that I show your ad on my site in exchange for permission to show my ad on your site.
Banner exchange networks differ from simple link exchanges in terms of reaching potential visitors. Members of major banner exchanges have the opportunity to place their ads on thousands of other sites. Unlike simple link exchanges, which are often coded right on the page, banner exchange networks allow you to distribute ads across many different websites, sometimes with the benefit of advanced targeting.
Credits allow you to run your banner ads on other sites on the network. The number of credits earned depends on the number of banners displayed on your site and the exchange rate. A conversion rate of 2:1 means that every two ads shown on your site will count towards the display of your banner on another member site.
