Arrange These Compounds By Their Expected Boiling Point
Would you classify these compounds according to their expected boiling points? CH4 CH3Cl CH3OH? 3
From lowest to highest
I was wrong twice. I have CH3OH low CH3CL medium CH4 high not enough.
CH3Cl Low boiling point 11.56 ° F Medium CH3OH 149 ° F Boiling point CH4 257.8 ° F Boiling point This is all wrong.
Explain what I did wrong. Thank you very much:)
To update10+ for the best explanation. Thank you very much.
The more intermolecular forces, the higher the boiling point.
They are fine
CH4 only has electricity in London and it boils at the lowest temperatures (natural gas, like in your stove).
CH3Cl has a dopole and therefore CH4 ve.
CH3OH has H-bonds and is therefore the most difficult to cook.
Rate the compounds with the expected boiling point ch4 ch3cl ch3oh.
