Amnion - How To Discuss

Amnion

Is "amnion" the same thing as "the amniotic sac"? The amnion is part of the amniotic sac. The amniotic sac is a pair of thin but strong transparent membranes that support the developing embryo (and later the fetus) just before birth. The innermost layer, the amnion, contains the amniotic fluid and the fetus. The outer membrane, the chorion, contains the amnion and is part of the placenta.
